What and Why a CDFI

What is a CDFI?

A Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) is a designation given by the CDFI Fund to organizations that provide financial services in low-income communities, and to people who lack access to mainstream banking. Through a nationwide network of CDFIs, the CDFI Fund works to empower low-income and underserved people.

Through different strategies, each CDFI contributes to the cultivation of a healthy, stable local economy. ACFCU received our CDFI designation in 2014, making us eligible to participate in specialized programs and grant-funded initiatives.
