Rhonda Hazlewood, Human Resources (HR) Director at Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union (ACFCU), recently earned her Credit Union HR Compliance Professional (CUHRCP) certification. The CUHRCP designation distinguishes HR professionals as a “go-to” for HR compliance-related questions and as a HR compliance leader in the credit union industry.
The proctored-exam requires pre-requisite training 60 days in advance and attendance at an instructor-led study session. Once completed, attendees take part in the CUNA HR Compliance Certification School with CUDoctor to dive deeper into HR compliance laws and regulations including hot topics affecting the credit union industry.
The training provides HR practitioners with information to maintain relevant human resources programs that foster a safe and productive work environment for employees as well as keeping HR professionals up-to-date on complex, ever-evolving and challenging regulations.
With more than 35 years of experience in the nuclear manufacturing, nuclear services, healthcare, hotel management, and financial services industries, Hazlewood also holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). She joined ACFCU in 2022 and has been invited for the past two years to serve as a speaker for the Annual CUNA HR & OD Council Conference.
The Watauga native graduated from East Tennessee State University and received her masters of human resources management from Liberty University. She is a graduate of the Unicoi County Leadership program and the E4 Leadership program in Charlotte, NC.
Hazlewood currently serves as a volunteer on the United Way of Greater Kingsport campaign cabinet holding the position of vice chair of the community business group and as a member of the HR committee. She resides in the Boones Creek area of Johnson City with her husband, Gary. She has two children, Whitney and Nathan, and two grandchildren, Colby and Brycen.
