Brooks Joins ACFCU

Melissa Brooks has joined Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union (ACFCU) as branch manager of the newly opened Church Hill branch.

With 28 years of experience in the financial industry, Brooks has served in a variety of roles, including teller, head teller, customer service representative, IRA administrator, loan officer, and branch manager.  She served the Church Hill community at Civis Bank for 22 years.  She is also a certified Notary Public.

A lifelong resident of Hawkins County, Brooks is a graduate of Volunteer High School.  She attended Northeast State Community College and East Tennessee State University and earned an Associate Degree in Business Management.

“It’s truly a joy to be back home in Church Hill,” said Brooks.  “This community means so much to me, and I’m excited to once again assist the people who have always felt like family.  It’s an honor to serve both familiar faces and new ones.  ACFCU’s strong commitment to member service aligns perfectly with my own passion for helping others.”

“Melissa is the perfect addition to our Appy Team,” said Miranda Gray Cooper, ACFCU Chief Experience Officer.  “She brings with her not only a wealth of experience, but also a deep connection to the Hawkins County community. She is well-respected, trusted, and admired by those who know her, and she consistently demonstrates a genuine heart for service.”

Brooks currently resides in Surgoinsville and is an active member of the Fudges Chapel United Methodist Church, where she serves as church treasurer.

She and her husband, Johnny, an employee of the First Utility District of Hawkins County for 28 years, have raised their family with strong ties to the community. Their son, Seth, is currently studying electrical work at TCAT.

The Brooks family also proudly maintains their multi-generational farm in Surgoinsville, which has been in operation since 1942. When not working or serving at church, the entire family shares a passion for drag racing. Brooks herself holds the distinction of earning the first NHRA Wally in the family and competes at Bristol Dragway and tracks across the East Coast.

The new Church Hill location opened on April 21 at 201 South Central Avenue next to the Marathon gas station.  This is the second Hawkins County location for the credit union, with the first being located on West Main Street in Rogersville.  The new branch offers a full range of products and services, a drive-thru teller, and a drive-up ATM.  An official grand opening and ribbon cutting event is being planned for mid-May.
